Well, hello there! And Happy Thursday! Or, better yet, Happy Friday Eve! Gosh, is it just me or is this week DRAGGING by?! Don't get me wrong, I've been super busy...but it seems like the weekend is taking FOREVER to get here. Maybe it's just me.
Anyway, moving right along...
As you know by now, yesterday was DGC's 29th Birthday. Having a birthday in the middle of the week on the day after Valentine's Day is a bit challenging for party planning purposes, but I wanted to make sure that DGC's special day did not go uncelebrated. So, I threw together a little last minute dinner party for his big day. We were very fortunate to have the company of our wonderful families and a few close friends.
I saw the idea for this birthday wreath on Pinterest a few weeks ago, and wanted to be sure to make it for DGC's special day. I used a bigger wreath than the DIY instructions called for, which, in turn, required me to use more balloons. I know that some of you are super crafty and what not, but I am what you would call "domestically challenged," so I was very proud of how this turned out:
I ordered his birthday cake from the incredible Gretchen of
Sweet G.
Argyle! :) I love argyle everything! (I even have an Argyle Burberry bikini, but that's a story for another day...)
My good friend,
T, introduced me to Gretchen a couple of years ago, and I must say that she has not only become my "go-to" girl for sweet treats, but she has also become someone that I consider to be a friend. Her cakes and cookies not only look amazing, but they are literally the most delicious treats that I've ever had! If you're in the Nashville area, I highly recommend checking out
Sweet G!
Here is the birthday boy and his cake:
I had originally planned to do a sit down meal, but then I thought about how this group loves to get together and chat it up, so I ditched the dinner plan and instead whipped up some quick and easy finger foods for everyone to nibble on while mingling. I picked a variety of DGC's favorite munchies. The menu included chicken salad croissants, pimento cheese finger sandwiches on fresh baked bread, spinach dip in a bread bowl, assorted fruits, veggies and cheeses, brie, flat breads, and various dips.
And, of course I had a wide variety of libations on hand.
I must've gotten too caught up in mingling because I put down my camera and forgot to take photos for the rest of the evening! DGC blew out the candles, opened gifts, and the bubbly flowed.
All in all, I'd say that the last minute, midweek party was a success! I love playing hostess and throwing little get togethers, don't you?!
Happy Thursday!
